The deadline for open enrollment is February 15th. If you do not have current coverage please make sure you are contacting the Marketplace at 1-800-318-2596 to shop for plans and enroll for coverage beginning March 1.
80% of Kansas enrollees and 88% of Missouri enrollees qualify for some kind of financial assistance to help with premiums and cost sharing.
42% of enrollees in the Marketplace for 2015 are brand new enrollees and some are getting health insurance for the first time. Get covered!
@AngieBittel: Thank you for your question. The best answer is to keep contacting the Marketplace at 1-800-318-2596 and ask for a supervisor if necessary. They may have to handle inputting your enrollment for you.
Angie - You may also try setting up a new account if nothing else works. I'm sorry you have to deal with it. It does happen, but thankfully not that frequently.
@Mike: Hi Mike. Everyone is eligible to enroll in the Marketplace for Health Insurance. You can shop for plans and set up an account on your own at www.healthcare.gov or you can contact the Marketplace at 1-800-318-2596. If you want to find an enrollment event in your area you can dial 211 and they will route you to a local event where an assister can help you.
@Mike: So I'm guessing you went online and did the window shopping. When you fill out the application you will estimate your income for 2015 and it will determine if you are eligible for financial assistance. Again assisters are available to help you through the process of completing an application and shopping for plans.

9.5 million have applied for insurance under the Marketplace and 87% nationally have qualified for financial assistance to help pay for premiums and out of pocket costs. Don't exclude yourself because you think you can't afford it.
If you are enrolled in a Marketplace plan with the advanced premium tax credit and become eligible for Medicare or other minimum essential coverage, please contact the Marketplace to terminate your coverage and premium tax credit.
@Ed: Hi Ed, these are commercial insurance plans and each plan determines what drugs will be covered under their formulary (list of covered drugs). During the application process you should be able to see what providers are covered by the plans and details about their benefits.

The Marketplace Call Center is open 24-hours a day to answer your questions, help you complete your applications, and enroll in Marketplace coverage. If you have a long wait time during the day, try calling outside of normal business hours. Most people don't expect the Marketplace to be open at 10:00 pm and your wait time should be shorter.

@Sandy: Hi Sandy. If you are not able to carry him on your health insurance, I would recommend that he apply for health insurance through the Marketplace and see if he is eligible for any financial assistance. There is no way to know exactly how much it will cost him until he actually creates a Marketplace Account, shops for a plan and enrolls.

If you are enrolled in a Marketplace Health Plan you will receive a form from the Marketplace posted by Feb 2nd
which you will use when you file your taxes, if you received the advanced premium tax credit. This form will help you reconcile the amount of tax credit you received against the tax credit you actually received.
If you have Medicare you do not have to purchase insurance through the Marketplace.
If you are not currently covered, please do not miss the deadline for the open enrollment on Feb 15th!
One of the top questions we see is, "Can I afford Marketplace Insurance?" Please not that nationally 87% of the consumers enrolling in coverage for 2015 have qualified for financial assistance to help pay premiums and health care costs. It is more affordable than you think.

@Rob: Hi Rob, if you choose COBRA you will have to exhaust your COBRA before you can enroll in a Marketplace plan. If I'm understanding you correctly your COBRA will take you up to August when you become eligible for Medicare but you will have to pay full premiums for two months. If that is the scenario, the Marketplace will not come into play.
@AB: Yes you can choose another plan until Feb 15th. If you choose another plan between now and Feb 15th, your coverage will begin on March 1st.
@Nicole: I would recommend that you either contact a certified application counselor here locally to help you through the application process and you can actually do some window shopping to see if you might qualify for some financial assistance and what you might expect the insurance to cost. If you would like to find an enrollment event near you or a certified application counselor dial the United Way at 211 and they can direct you to someone near you. You can also complete the application and shop for coverage at the Health Insurance Marketplace 24 hours a day at 1-800-318-2596.
@Bob: It sounds like when she went to the Marketplace to apply for insurance for her baby, she was probably referred to the state for the children's health insurance program. The information would have been sent to the state for a determination. I'm not sure about Kansas but I know that MO can take 45 days to process those applications.
@Laurel: You can still apply at the Marketplace for coverage and estimate what you believe your income will be for the year to see if you may qualify for financial assistance to pay the premium.
